Unity in Diversity Week

Unity in Diversity Week this year falls between November 6th and 12th. In 1992, the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Canada designated the second week of November as UNTIY IN DIVERSITY WEEK. Across the country Bahá'í groups organize a variety of events and offer them as a gift to their communities. The main purpose of this week is to help build positive relations among all Canadians, to strengthen equality for all peoples and to promote the eradication of all forms of prejudice in Canada.

This means recognizing diversity in its broadest sense; including race, gender, age, class or culture, differences of ability and disability, education, wealth, neighbourhood or temperment. It is not a passive concept of acceptance, but an active principle calling on us to go out of our way to cherish and celebrate our differences.

A Celebration of Diversity

Come Help us put the unity in community

Sunday November 6, 2004 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm

The Baha’i community is hosting a party to welcome and celebrate the diversity that is right here in our community. It is held during Unity in Diversity week (November 6th to November 12th) and is a celebration of Algoma's unique ethic diversity and how this adds to the beauty of Sault Ste. Marie by highlighting the various cultural background of Canada's citizens. Living together and getting to know one another's culture help foster the true spirit of brotherhood and tolerance between all Canadians.

Please come and join us for:

  • music by Fred Kent
  • belly dancing by Katie Campbell
  • coffee, tea and treats
  • new friends and a great time
